Hurst Castle is one of the many forts guarding the entrance to Southampton Water.
Originally built by Henry VIII and greatly extended during Napoleonic times it is located at the end of a long shingle spit accessible on foot from Milford on Sea or by passenger ferry from Keyhaven.
